Nollywood Portraits: A Radical Beauty - Coffee Table Book

This lavishly illustrated book was published in October, 2016 by Milan-based Skira and features 64 individual portraits of Nollywood personalities representing a cross section of the industry.

It includes a forward written by Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., an American historian, literary critic, filmmaker and public intellectual and an introduction by Chigozie Obioma, a Nigerian writer shortlisted for the 2015 Man Booker Prize who has been called, in a New York Times book review, β€œthe heir to Chinua Achebe.”

Also featured are essays by Sarah Nuttall, Professor of Literary and Cultural Studies and Director of WiSER (Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research) in Johannesburg, South Africa; Helen Trompeteler, Curator of Photographs at the National Portrait Gallery, London, UK; Toni Kan, author of 4 critically acclaimed works of fiction and poetry; Osahon Akpata, who published his first novel at age 11 and contributes articles to several magazines and blogs including Vogue Italia, Forbes Africa and ONE Blog; Binyavanga Wainaina, a Kenyan author, journalist and winner of the Caine Prize for African Writing and Olu Oguibe, a Nigerian-born, American artist and intellectual and Professor of Art and African-American Studies at the University of Connecticut, Storrs.
